On these holidays there is a choice of two guided walks of varying difficulty each day.
ITINERARY
Day 1: arrival day |
|
Day 2: explore the vine-covered slopes to the east of Régua with panoramic views of the River Douro and enjoy a wine tasting at a local quinta.
Day 3: discover the gentle rolling hills south of the Douro and visit the beautiful town of Lamego, famous for its stunning baroque stairway of 700 steps leading to the church of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios.
Day 4: walk in the hills of the Serra do Maraõ, an unspoilt area of stunning mountains and tiny villages, high above the valley. Sample the port and a traditional regional meal at a local quinta.
Day 5: free day - enjoy a spectacular train journey along the banks of the Douro to Porto, a charming UNESCO World Heritage Site, and world capital of port wine.
Day 6: wander through the traditional sleepy villages of Canelas and Galafura before descending down to the Douro Valley.
Day 7: wander through rural farmlands and vineyards to Casal de Loivos and its spectacular viewpoint, then take a romantic boat trip along the Douro back to the hotel.

Further information will be sent to you prior to your holiday; however the final selection of walks will be made by your walking leaders.

Please allow €75 (approx £60) per week for
local transport (payable locally in Euros), excluding your free day.

Your leaders will carry a number of maps and guides for this
holiday. If you would like to obtain one for your own enjoyment
it is normally only possible to purchase large scale tourist
