On these holidays there is a choice of two guided walks of varying difficulty each day.
ITINERARY
Day 1: arrival day |
|
Day 2: walk from Füssen to the Alatsee lake or
continue through the Salober meadows and over the
Austrian border.
Day 3: take the lift to the beautiful Ammer Mountain Nature Reserve and enjoy views across the Bavarian countryside from high level mountain paths.
Day 4: admire the stunning view of the mountains
from the top of the Tegelberg cable car and then
enjoy a well-graded descent to Ludwig’s fairytale
castle and the delightful Alpsee lake.
Day 5: free day - around Füssen visit the
Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles whilst
further afield are the famous ‘passion-play’ village of
Oberammergau and the Royal Linderhof palace.
Day 6: journey into Austria for walks through the high
meadows above the village of Tannheim visiting the
summits of Neunerköpfle or Schochenspitze.
Day 7: ascend on the gondola lift to Berghaus Allgäu
for a wonderful mountain panorama with an option to
walk along the frontier ridge between Austria and
Germany.
Day 8: departure day. |
Please Note: The above programme should give you a good feel for the
walks at this resort but is subject to change. Each year we listen carefully to
the views of our guests and make improvements to our walking programmes. Further
information will be sent to you prior to your holiday; however the final selection
of walks will be made by your walking leaders.
Local transport to and from walks:
Local transport is not included in the cost of your holiday.
Please allow €80 (approx £64) per week for
transport, excluding your free day. Payable locally in Euros.

Easier Walks: 5 to 7 miles on good lakeside, woodland and high meadow paths with up to 1,000ft
of ascent in a day. |

Harder Walks: 7 to 9½ miles with some steeper and rocky sections and 500ft to 2,000ft of ascent in a day.
On one week (see below) the Harder Walks will be replaced with more
challenging mountain walks. |

Making your own travel arrangements
Flights to Munich: Munich is the nearest airport to Füssen and has a good range of direct flights from the UK. If you are making your own arrangements you may want to consider one of the following options:

www.ba.com flights from Gatwick & Heathrow.
www.easyjet.com flights from Stansted.
To transfer to Füssen, reach the hotel by
joining the HF Holidays’ transfer (supplement £25 single). Please contact our Reservations Team to book your place and find out the latest times.
Alternatively Munich Airport has its own railway station travel with good connections Füssen by train, with one change at Munich Haupbahnhof or Munich-Pasing. For train times visit www.bahn.de (change language to English on the left hand side). It is worth noting that to get the website to work you need to type Füssen with the umlaut (ü) over the u, ir Fuessen with an e.

include routes to the summits of Aggenstein,
