On these holidays there is a choice of two guided walks for varying abilities each day. For maximum choice we
offer two weekly itineraries - ideal if you wish to book a 14-night holiday or return for a second visit.
ITINERARY ONE
Weeks of 26 April; 10 May; 7, 21 June; 13, 27 Sept; 11 Oct 2009
Day 1: arrival day |

Day 2: enjoy walks above the Lima Valley to traditional
Tuscan villages; a perfect introduction to this corner of
Italy.
Day 3: explore the village of Coreglia then walk through
the wooded hillsides and deep valleys to the medieval
town of Barga with its splendid 12th century cathedral.
Day 4: spend a day sightseeing in Lucca, one of Italy’s
most perfect walled towns, and Pisa with its famous leaning tower.
Day 5: explore the Orecchiella Natural Park, an unspoilt
habitat for wildlife and flowers, beneath the slopes of
the Pania di Corfino.
Day 6: free day - perhaps take an organised excursion
to the magnificent city of Florence.
Day 7: experience walks in the high Apuane mountains
around Monte Matanna for panoramic views over these
impressive peaks, down to the coast.
Day 8: departure day
ITINERARY TWO
Weeks of 19 April; 3, 17, 31 May; 14 June; 6, 20 Sept; 4 Oct 2009
Day 1: arrival day
Day 2: discover the gently rolling countryside around
Bagni di Lucca soaking up the warm ambience of this
part of Tuscany.
Day 3: walk over fertile hills, dotted with cypress trees
and old farmhouses from the charming hill village of
Lupinaia.
Day 4: take a full day excursion to Renaissance Florence,
with its famous Uffizi gallery, the elegant Ponte Vecchio
and glorious cathedral.
Day 5: walk along ancient cobbled tracks to the villages
of Roggio and Campocatino, both set high in the Apuane
Alps.
Day 6: free day - perhaps visit Lucca where Tintoretto’s
‘Last Supper’ can be seen in the cathedral.
Day 7: visit the Grotta del Vento and then through the
verdant foothills to the charming village of Fornovalasco
or Monte Forato.

Please Note: The above programme should give you a good feel for the walks
at this resort but is subject to change. Each year we listen carefully to the
views of our guests and make improvements to our walking programmes. Further information
will be sent to you prior to your holiday; however the final selection of walks
will be made by your walking leaders.
Local transport to and from walks
Local transport is not included in the cost of your holiday. Please allow €90
(approx £72) per week for local transport, excluding your free day.

Your leaders will of course carry all the necessary maps. However if you would
like one for your own personal enjoyment then the best map of the local area is
the 1:25,000 Carta Dei Sentieri E Rifugi Sheet 101 / 102 entitled 'Alpi Alpune'.
