information |

Travelling on foot has long been the best way to experience some of the world's
greatest landscapes and remote cultures. With so much choice, our current programme
is nothing short of a walker's paradise.
There is something for enthusiasts of all levels - whether
you're an occasional walker who enjoys gentle alpine paths,
or prefer trekking and more challenging mountain trails.
All trips with an emphasis on walking have been graded according
to the difficulty of walking offered and detailed information
on distances and ascents is available.
How Far Do We Walk Each Day?
Distances covered vary between destinations from day to day.
As long as you are reasonably active and in good health you
will find destinations and walks to suit you. Some walks will
be only part of a day. Full day walks may be five to seven
hours including breaks to absorb the scenery and views. Occasional
days can be longer if the terrain dictates.
Luggage transfer
Soft top cases or bags are ideal for your luggage on holidays
involving changes of hotel. Carrying a large backpack is not
a feature of an HF Holiday. On walks you'll need to carry
just a day rucksack with food, essentials and your camera
and binoculars. Porters are used on all trekking itineraries.
