HF Holidays policy on responsible tourism

HF Holidays, in its 96th year of operation, has always been committed to acting responsibly as a tour operator and as a membership organisation, community is at the heart of everything that we do.

Bringing people together through memorable holiday experiences whether in the UK or around the world is HF Holidays’ business, but we recognise that further action is needed to protect and preserve the destinations we visit. We want to lead the way in developing holidays that are truly sustainable. As a business we are currently in the process of actively reviewing our environmental practices across all areas of our operations, offices and Country Houses to ensure that we are proactively working to meet the highest standards with regard to protecting the environment.

As a responsible traveller you will already be aware of the many companies offering a carbon offsetting service for the flights that you take and we recognise that you can choose to offset without input from HF Holidays. As an organisation we have decided to look at all the ways we can reduce our carbon emissions as a business and also ways to make it easier for you to travel to your chosen holidays using alternative methods of transport to flights where this is possible.

The Pathways Fund

HF Holidays’ commitment to the wider community has always been key to how we operate. The Pathways Fund has been set up for over 50 years to provide assisted holidays to those in need and since 1998 to help safeguard and protect the paths and countryside where our groups walk. Last year alone we received in excess of £13,000 generously donated by our guests to carry out this important work and this is ongoing.

HF Holidays currently work with and donate to a number of other important organisations including The Air Ambulance, Countryside Management Association, John Muir Trust, The National Trust and the Mountain Rescue Teams who access areas where our UK holidays guests walk. We are also working with our overseas agents to consider ways we can more directly support some of the local communities that we visit overseas.
